Ιlias S. Kevork graduated (1984) from the Athens Economics University (ex ASOEE) with a B.Sc. degree in Economics. He holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.; 1984) in Statistics and a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph. D; 1990) in statistical aspects of discrete event computer simulation (with emphasis on outputs from inventory and queuing systems) from the London School of Economics (LSE), University of London. He has been in the Economics Department of University of Thessaly since 2001, first as a visiting Lecturer (2001-2005), then as a Lecturer (2005 – 2009), as an Assistant Professor initially without tenure (2009 – 2013) and with tenure (2013 – 2016). Before joining the Economics Department, Dr. Kevork taught also in various institutions in Greece including the National School and the National Centre of Public Administration, The Athens Laboratory of Business Administration (ALBA), the School of Integrated Logistics Support of the Hellenic Navy etc. During his study at the Ph.D. level, Dr. Kevork won a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation and also worked as teaching assistant in the Department of Statistical and Mathematical Science of LSE.
Dr. Kevork’s research interests are in the fields of Applied Economics, Management Science, Business Statistics and Time-Series and Forecasting. His subjects of research concern (a) estimation of optimal policies in inventory management, (b) forecasting using time series models, (c) models of consumer patterns using data from household sample surveys, and (d) discrete event computer simulation for studying the dynamic evolution of inventory and queuing models. His work has been published in several refereed journals including OMEGA-The International Journal of Management Science, International Transactions in Operational Research, Journal of Applied Statistics, Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters. His published works have received citations from papers of various refereed journals including OMEGA, International Journal of Production Economics, Communications in Statistics, Journal of Chemometrics, Physical Review, Engineering Letters, Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters, European Journal of Industrial Engineering etc. Also, he has acted as a referee in journals like the International Journal of Production Economics, the Journal of the Operational Research Society, Defense and Piece Economics, OPSEARCH (Journal of the Operations Research Society of India), Quality Technology & Quantitative Management.
Since 2005, Dr. Kevork has participated in a number of research projects including «ODEMM-Options for Delivering Ecosystem-Based Marine Management» financed by EU-7th-Cooperation (2012-2013, 13 months), «Harmonisation of statistical indices according to European Union regulations in Romania» financed by EU-PHARE (2005-2006, 13 months), «Technical Support for developing and/or establishing new enterprises in the sector of Social Economy» and «Conducting pilot survey to identify business activities and financial needs in the sector of Social Economy» under the framework of programmes “EQUAL” financed by the EU and the Greek Government (2005-2006, 14 months), «Central activities for linking education and labor market in the University of Thessaly» (2011-2012, 17 months) and «Αpplication, evaluation, and dissemination of the Economics Department quality assurance data to the Central Quality Office of the University of Thessaly» (2011-2012, 11 months) under the framework of Educational and Lifelong Operational Programmes financed by EU and the Greek Government. Before joining the Economics Department, he worked as a research fellow and an expert in various research institutions and consulting companies in Greece including the Research Center of the Athens University of Economics and Business, the Hellenic Institute of Health and Safety at Work, The Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises (SEPE), the European Research Center, the Doxiadis Associates etc. in topics relevant to consumer patterns from family budgets surveys, health and safety conditions at work in Greece, social surveys, market researches etc. Finally, Dr. Kevork holds the «Certificate of Achievement» by BVQI awarded to him after the successful completion of the examination process related to the «QMS Internal Auditor Training course»
