Course Outline

This module provides an opportunity to study a variety of topics from the broad field of Microeconomic Analysis. The course builds upon and expands key principles of Microeconomics covered in Microeconomic Analysis I and II towards examining case studies. It also employs and extends relevant techniques (including, micro-econometrics and mathematical modelling) to analyse real world problems and contemporary policy issues. The module will cover several topics among which Mergers and Acquisitions; firms' operation and current research challenges; competition and collusion in strategic industries; supply chains; innovation; knowledge management.

Assessment:
Ηomeworks οn topics that will be analysed in lectures. The final grade of each student is calculated as the weighted average of the grade in each homework. Additional information and guidelines will be provided during lectures.

Learning results

By the end of a successful conclusion of the course and assessments, students should be able to:

  • Describe theoretical structure and dynamics of specific economic sectors using a case study approach.
  • Explain the role of public economic policies on the operation of specific markets.
